The Biggest Mistake People Make When Conducting Paranormal Investigations

The biggest mistake that people make while conducting investigations of paranormal activity is that they almost always wait until night time to start their investigation. They assume that the best time to gather evidence is during the night. While it is true that you can gather a lot of very good evidence at night, and that the night time has its advantages over investigating during the day time. There are also advantages to investigating during the day time. I have seen a lot of ghost hunters make this mistake and only focus their efforts on the night time. This is in no way a professional way to conduct an investigation. In order to properly conduct an investigation you must gather evidence during both the day and night. If you only conduct night time investigation then you are truly missing a lot of phenomenon, because in my experience there is a lot of activity that happens during the day. There are advantages and to both day and night, and I will go over some of these with you.

One of the advantages of investigating during the day is that you have a lot better visibility, you can see whats around you a lot more easily. The second advantage is that when taking pictures if you happen to get orb's, they are less likely to be dust or insects showing up. A very big problem for new investigators is learning to tell the difference between dust and insects and real orb's. And the biggest advantage is that the day time is often overlooked or thought of as less important, so you will be investigating at a time which is often just plain ignored and that gives you the chance to catch activity that other people could not get.

The first advantage to investigating at night is that it often puts you in the proper mind set to open yourself up to experiencing different types of paranormal activity. The second advantage is that different types of ghost's seem to like doing things under the cover of darkness, it gives them a safe feeling.

There are numerous different types of ghost's and entity's as well as paranormal events that take place throughout the world and some happen more frequently during the day and some at night. So take the time and be sure to investigate both, you will be happy you did.

2013 NHL Draft Preview

It is never too early to look at the top prospects and see how they will end up in the charts at the following NHL draft. Today, we look at some of the most likely candidates that could be number one at the 2013 NHL draft.

Nathan Mackinnon

The Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia native is in 5th place in QMJHL scoring with 14 goals and 8 assists in just 12 games. He is already at a plus 16 and his team is in 1st in the entire QMJHL. Thanks to him and his top scoring linemates Jonathon Drouin and Stefan Fournier, the Halifax Mooseheads have the most goals in the league. Mackinnon makes his teammates around him better. Both Drouin and Fournier are 2nd and 3rd place in scoring respectively on their team and its because they play with Mackinnon. Unlike Sidney Crosby (Who was also raised in Cole Harbour) Mackinnon likes to deke and shoot preferred to the pass. His 14 goals in 12 games tells you that he has killer goal scoring instinct and a flair for the highlight reel goal. His plays have already made it on Global National News and his skills are heavily displayed on Youtube. He is just 18 years of age but he has accomplished a lot and his best days are yet to come.

Seth Jones

Seth Jones is a big defenseman at 6' 4", 206 pounds. He is a freight train at the defensive end and checking is what he does best. He is not praised for his offensive ability although he has 2 goals and 4 assists in 10 games with the Portland Winterhawks which isn't too bad but his specialty is at the defensive end. He covers a lot of the ice and takes the man at the right time. He is very poised when moving the puck up the ice and always seems to make the right decision with his plays breaking out of the zone. He is very similar to Zach Bogosian of the Winnipeg Jets with the way he quarterbacks the blue line on the powerplay and even strength play. He has a booming shot and a willingness to use that cannon when it is needed. He doesn't try to be flashy when playmaking but he makes the simple but effective play when he has possession of the puck.

Overall he plays a sound two way game with a physical edge and defensive knack for taking the man. He is still adjusting his play in his first WHL season with the Winterhawks but his stats should get better as time goes on in the season.

Sean Monahan

Sean Monahan of the Ottawa 67's in the OHL is slated to be the 2nd centerman behind Nathan Mackinnon to be selected in the draft. He has an undeniable goal scoring touch and his playmaking ability is just as effective. His point totals are strong with 4 goals and 11 assists in 11 games. For him to be in the first overall seed in the 2013 NHL draft, he has some work to do. His team is dead last in his division with just 3 wins in 11 games played so far this year and he is already at a minus 10 with a group of teammates that are either hovering around the +5 to +10 range or the -5 to -15 range. Monahan needs to be in the plus range in order for his rank to increase and that is a difficult task at that. Expect a slight fall in his ranking in the coming weeks but you should also expect a bounce back in the coming months ahead. Don't think he is bad player because he is on a bad team or is in the minus range. When you see him play, he loves to either skate to the slot with the puck or looks for the man in front of the net to pass to when he is behind the net. He loves utilizing the slot and he uses it well.

Hunter Shinkaruk

Another top ranked prospect from the NHL, Hunter Shinkaruk is a left winger playing for the Medicine Hat Tigers. He currently has 6 goals and 6 assists in 12 games with his club but his Tigers team is only in 5th place in the central division in the WHL. He plays almost identically like Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks and when you see his highlight videos he displays all sorts of skill whether skating to the slot and rifling the puck top corner or making that cross-ice pass for an open player with a wide open net, his skill set is so versatile and unpredictable. He also does everything with great speed too. He does have a -7 on his team however the amount of talent he has makes up for his defensive short comings. He is probably the most talented player in the draft besides Nathan Mackinnon. He might just steal the 2nd overall NHL draft seat from Seth Jones if he racks up enough points this season.

3 Things You Must Do Before You Try to Purchase a New Car

If you set out to do something worthwhile, make sure you do it in the right way. That is definitely true for succeeding at buying a new car. Being well advised and having a good plan could be critical factors in determining whether you have it right and generally are successful or fail and lose out. Should you not do it right, the consequences can be disastrous. You could possibly wind up paying way too much for your new vehicle, and even get locked into a bad car loan.

Allow me to share a trio of guidelines to avert that sort of failure, and succeed.

First, before you ever set foot on a car dealer lot

You'll need to obtain you own personal credit report. One that show you credit history from the 3 major credit bureaus as it helps in preventing from being lead to a high interest loan. To not get this done correctly could have you paying several thousand dollars more for your new car. So don't make the mistake of ignoring this crucial step!

Second, apply and have approval for car financing before you negotiate any type of car purchase

Almost as important as obtaining you own personal credit report while you're working to succeed at buying a new car will likely be apply and have approval for car financing before you negotiate any type of car purchase. Take it from me; this isn't something you want to by-pass. It will help to lower the purchase price to your advantage, and that is something anyone involved in buying a new car wants.

Third, research the internet and obtain what the average dealer invoice price is of the vehicle you are interested in. This is different from the sticker price.

And finally, when you are dealing with buying a new car, be sure that you organized with your own financing along with knowledgeable about the invoice price of the car you would like to own. This assists with obtaining the lowest price for the vehicle, and that's a major part of purchasing a new car. Neglecting to do that could mean that you might overpay or even worse get stuck in a high interest car loan -- and we can likely concur that this will be a very bad thing!

As I mentioned at the beginning, in regards to buying a new car, then you certainly would like to steer clear of the different types of mistakes that can mean you wind up paying way too much for your new vehicle, or maybe get locked into a bad car loan. The one thing you really want is drive a new car for the lowest price possible, which you can attain by carefully adhering to the above mentioned steps.

Book Review of "Kiss My Math: Showing Pre-Algebra Who's Boss" by Danica McKellar

Kiss My Math: Showing Pre-Algebra Who's Boss [Soft cover]

by Danica McKellar

352 pages, $24.95

ISBN-10: 1594630496

Nonfiction

At the end of the 80s, the network ABC blessed America with an endearing drama entitled "The Wonder Years." A youthful Fred Savage navigated the unrest of maturing in the 60's, a period of American history fraught with turbulence. In this family sitcom, his co-star, Danica McKellar, was his winsome, on-and-off-again girlfriend, Winnie. Struggling with math concepts was probably too mundane a plot to be aired on this amicable television show.

Ms. McKellar decided to take a break from acting to attend UCLA where she earned a BS in Mathematics-even helping to author original research proving an original math theorem. During that course of study, she had an epiphany: mathematics does not have to be the bane of young females. Opting not to stay in the lofty towers of mathematics academe, she wrote Math Doesn't Suck, a book specifically aimed at young females to help those struggling with math anxiety.

Kiss My Math builds upon the content of Math Doesn't Suck, to take its readership to a higher understanding of pre-algebraic concepts. Having taught math in high school, this writer cannot find fault with the demonstration of math principles presented. One of the benefits of studying math, or even teaching math, is the fact that, in the end - math problems can have only one right answer. Math anxiety arises when a student realizes that math is an exacting study...one that cannot be achieved through a bluffing process.

Prepubescent girls will appreciate the efforts to provide dating tips and glimpses from Danica's personal experiences as she navigated adolescence. McKellar is to be commended for including testimonials from professional women that illustrate the study of mathematics can be helpful in even glamorous feminine careers, such as fashion merchandising.

It is hard to take some of the illustrations seriously, however. For instance, to teach the difference between positive and negative integers, McKellar calls them "mint-egers" instead. A good tasting mint is a positive integer and a bad tasting trifle is a negative integer. If you have a negative taste in your mouth, like -6, you can combine it with a positive integer to get 0. She calls this a "lint-eger" since it's so bland.

Know a young female who's struggling with math? This book could help, but keep it away from her dad; he will laugh himself silly over the rest of it.

Learn How to Increase Your Reading Speed and Comprehension Will Follow

When people learn how to increase reading speed they will be able to read through books, emails, articles and magazines quicker. However, is there a correlation between speed and comprehension? Does retention increase as speed increases? This article will attempt to answer these two questions and I will explain some of the benefits of learning this skill.

To answer these questions you have to understand the role of speed in the reading process. Research has showed that there is in fact a close relationship between speed and retention. Furthermore as speed decreases comprehension decreases as well. For many people who read slow a word by word focus and analysis is the main culprit to slow reading. Focusing and trying to understand the meaning of every word you read will decrease comprehension.

Speed reading allows individuals to increase the rate at which they read and gradual increases will help you comprehend what you read. Understanding and remembering what you read along with an increase in reading speed will pay huge dividends. Having said all of this, the rate of speed and comprehension will not be the same for everyone as results do vary depending on the method used to increase your speed.

Just reading faster will not translate into increased comprehension. To get the full effect the best method is to learn how to increase reading speed properly by completing a speed reading course. Most individuals who complete a speed reading course will double and often times triple reading speed. The average person reads between 200 - 400 words per minute while the average college student reads between 350 - 500 words per minute. Imagine what you could do if those numbers were doubled or even tripled. To sum up the article comprehension is increased when you learn material as fast as your mind works. This is why increasing your reading speed will increase comprehension.

How to Write a Book Outline With Mindmapping

Book writing using mindmapping makes chapters easy to read, compelling, and consistent for readers.

If you want to learn how to write a book outline, mindmapping is better than linear outlining because authors can use flexible thinking and relativity in writing their book. One can add and subtract a thought or phrase from a mindmap easily. This is an excellent way to start, organize, and finish your book.

What is Mindmapping?

Mindmapping is a color-coded outline of main ideas, sub topics and details, printed on different colored branches connected to the center. In the center in a circle, you will list your main idea, such as your book or chapter title.

For "The One-Minute Sales Person", Spencer's mindmap would have had seven different colored vertical branches coming from that center, so details can be put on connected horizontal branches--much easier to read.

What are the advantages of Mindmapping?

First, this is open-ended and open-minded. No more squeezing new "ahas" or ideas into the strict, tight form of the linear outline. You can make mistakes in your mindmaps. Imperfection leads to creativity. When you get an idea for chapter one, you can just add another branch off the main one. Mindmapping expands flexible thinking, making for better writing.

Second, mindmaps use only three to five concrete or color words on a branch. These key words help jog our memory. Under Chapter One "Attracting Passion," I added several horizontal lines that represented the format that follows. One line had "opening quote," the next one "introduction," the next one "Jerry's Story," the next "Food for Thought and Action," the next, "Passion Hot Line," the last line, "practice."

Third, mindmaps speed up your writing because you only write key phrases. When you sit down at the computer, from your color-coded map, the answers will flow naturally. If you need to fatten up your chapter, just go to your chapter file folders where you keep your research.

Fourth, in mindmaps you see the whole related to the parts. Your thesis, chapter titles, and chapter contents all flow because you answered each question your readers had. This fast-forward technique allows me to write at least two or three books each year, and makes each book more organized, more focused and clear, easier to read, and finally brings more sales because people can understand the information quickly and easily.

How Do I Create My Mindmap?

Use a large sheet of paper, at least 8 ½ by 11 inches, but I recommend a large square of butcher paper or poster board, so you can spread out and enjoy the process! Have at least six or seven colored felt-tip pens in primary and bright colors ready.

In the center, encircle your title. Arrange your chapter headings, each on a different colored vertical branch, around the center in any order (you can number them later). If you can't think of a title, put a few key words. Use only one color per branch. Off each main branch, put five or so other horizontal branches of particular chapter parts.

Even though you later change your mind about the contents, this initial mindmap gives you the overall picture of what your book is and what it will share with its readers. I made several mindmaps of my Passion book before I settled on the best information to include.

Practice: Create your book's mindmap on a separate piece of paper

Practice: Create one chapter's mindmap on a separate piece of paper now.

Wow! You are up to speed. You have your thesis--what challenge your book will solve, your chapter working titles, your rough draft evolving with a Table of Contents, and you have questions to answer in each chapter.

Mindmapping is an excellent way to start, organize, and finish your book.

9 Proven Principles for Increasing Productivity, Profit and Peace of Mind

Do you feel guilty about all the publications you purchase but never read -- or the articles you read with great ideas or opportunities you never implement? Are you spending time recreating marketing materials because you cannot find what you wrote the preceding month or year? Do you run out the door for an appointment at the last minute because you could not find your keys or the directions you needed to get where you are going? Are you frequently feeling tired and overwhelmed? Do the people you care about express frustration at your disorganization or want to spend more time with you? If so, "getting organized" should be high on your priority list!

One of the continual frustrations in my career as a professional organizing consultant has been people's misconceptions about what it means to be "organized." Visions of unrealistically tidy desks and impossible mandates such as "Handle a piece of paper only once" conjure up feelings of frustration and impossibility. Fears of being imprisoned by a specific work style eliminate the reality of the freedom resulting from true organization.

What does it mean to "get organized?" Many people have a total misunderstanding of what it really means. I am trained as a musician. I look at organizing as an art form. Paint me a picture of what you want your life to be like, and I will help you get organized so you can get there! "Organization" is very personal. To identify whether a particular aspect of your work or life is organized, ask these three questions:

1. Does it work?

2. Do you like it?

3. Does it work for others?

Getting organized is about creating and sustaining a setting in which everything around you supports who you are and who you want to be - and allows everyone else you care about to do the same! The secret of getting organized and staying organized is what we call a "Productive Environment." I have spent the past 25+ years assisting individuals and organizations to create and sustain a productive environment so they can accomplish their work and enjoy their lives. We do that by helping them organize their time, space and information.

If you are ready for a life that will help you increase your profit and decrease your stress, here are 9 proven principles to get you started:

1. Today's mail is tomorrow's pile:

Are you sick of the clutter in your life? Most people start getting organized by throwing away old stuff. Our most popular service is called The 8-Hour Miracle(TM). We spend eight hours with a client with the promise of three things: 1) You will know what to do with every new thing that comes into your home or office. 2) You will be able to find anything we have filed or stored in that eight hours in five seconds or less. 3) You will have a Productive Environment GamePlan(TM) for handling whatever we didn't handle in the eight hours we were there. If we do not live up to that promise, you do not owe us any money. How can we make that promise? Because we ignore all your old stuff, and set up a system to design the future you desire.

2. Organizing in and of itself is of no value.

It is merely a tool to help you accomplish something important to you. Ask yourself, "If I were organized, what would I be able to do that I cannot do now?" An inability to organize a particular aspect of one's life often reflects a "should" mandated by someone else - not an inner desire to improve the quality of work or life, which is the only real reason for organizing anything! Always ask "Should I be organizing this at all?"

3. Clutter is postponed decisions.®

Not being able to decide what to keep, where to keep it, how long to keep it, etc. causes paralysis when it comes to organization. The good news is that there are really very few options. You can get rid of something, you can store it so you can use it regularly, or you can store it so you can use it if you want to.

4. Implement The FAT System(TM).

Papers pile up on your kitchen counter or a desk because you have not made a decision. The good news is there are really only three decisions you can make: File (in case you want it in the future, Act (the ball is in your court to pay the bill, write the report, or make a phone call), or Toss (decide it is not necessary).

5. Eighty percent of what you keep you never use.

Ironically, often the more you keep the less you use. It is no mistake the simplicity movement is one of the fastest growing in the world! Continually practice The Art of Wastebasketry® by asking these questions:

o Does this require action?

o Can I identify a specific use?

o Is it difficult to obtain again?

o Is it recent enough to be useful?

o Are there tax or legal implications?

o What is the worst possible thing that would happen I did not have this? If you can live with your answers, toss or recycle!

6. Overresponsibility can become irresponsibility.

One of the major reasons people keep things is because they "might be useful someday." For example, many people have every pair of eyeglasses they ever ordered while someone 20 minutes away cannot afford even one pair. Do you have difficulty letting go of things - even if you do not use them? Finding someone else who needs them more than you do will make it easier.

7. Half of any job is having the right tool.

For years I struggled with guilt about my inability to stick to an exercise program. The combination of spending 80% of the time on the road and negative childhood experiences about physical activities seemed insurmountable, until I discovered I could get amazing results using exercise equipment I could pack in my suitcase and use in the privacy of my bedroom.

8. Perfection prevents progress.

A creative mind always has more ideas than the physical body can carry out. Virtually everyone I know, including myself, feels guilty about not being able to keep on top of the "to read" pile. Consider spending more time contemplating what you will do as a result of what you have read than feeling guilty about what you have not done.

9. Asking for help is a sign of wisdom, not weakness.

Sadly, many people have been conditioned to feel that being successful means going it alone. Nothing could be farther from the truth. As president of The National Association of Professional Organizers, my theme, which I have subsequently turned into a theme for my life and my business, was "Together we are better(TM)." I believe that statement applies to all of life. The only thing keeping you from getting what you want is finding people who can - and want - to help you get there!

Getting organized is an on-going process, not a destination. It is about progress, not perfectionism. When you feel less organized than you would like to be, forgive yourself, and move on. Substitute "If only..." with "Next time..." and you are on the right road!

Will any system turn you into a perennially "clean desk" person - unlikely! Messy desks are the natural outcome of a hectic pace. A place for everything and everything in its place - forget it, but it is half right! A place for everything means than when you want to clean up your office to meet a client, or just because you are sick of the mess yourself, recovering is no big deal! Some quick decision-making will clean off your desk in a matter of minutes, bring back a sense of control and get you on your way to productivity, profit, and peace of mind!

Suggestions Regarding Where to Place Indoor and Outdoor Fountains

Your home should be a sanctuary, and it should have all the luxuries you want and need to live a fulfilled life. Now, if this means buying outdoor fountains on sale, then so be it. They are great investments after all. See, aside from increasing your home's resale value, they could actually be used to enhance one's luck (as the Chinese would have it). When placed indoors, they can improve the air quality, as well as add a touch of elegance to the surroundings. They come in a variety of designs and are made of different materials, so you can always expect that something will fit your existing interiors or exteriors. And on top of that, there are actually some distributors today, who offer customized wall fountain creations. Hence, for a few thousand dollars, you would be able to get the look, color, water work, and measurement you desire.

Of course, when you think about placing a wall or stand fountain inside your home, you'd want it to be in a place where it makes the most impact. If you have yet to play around with ideas, here are a few suggestions you should consider in line with that concern.

As far as Feng Shui is concerned, it is recommended that when you buy wall fountains, place them either on the east, southeast, or north portion of the house. This would ensure that its suggested effects would be translated into the homeowner's health, career, life, and family. It is discouraged for any water bearing vessel to be situated in the south area, as it is a "Fire" territory. The water element is the representative of fame and reputation, and its introduction to an area where fire reigns may provoke a conflict of energy and the disruption of its flow. It is also forbidden to place indoor water fountains in the bedroom, regardless of whether it is in the designated area, as it is believed to introduce worry into the marriage. But, it is okay for you to position water fountains near the front door, so that it can attract good luck and positive energy.

However, practically speaking, you would want to put the wall and hanging fountains you buy, somewhere that has minimal traffic. You do not want it to be damaged by people coming and going, as well as constantly collecting dust and other pollutants. Yes, it would be nice for them to be seen, but they could also be knocked over accidentally by a child or someone who is in a hurry. A secret garden would be the perfect place for outdoor fountains on sale. And inside the home, the back foyer, downstairs corridors or lounge area would be ideal to place the water decoration. Just avoid those rooms that are directly exposed to the sun and have gadgets and ornaments that are not supposed to be in humid areas. If you have a collection of antique wooden furniture or paintings in the lounge, take out the fountain or rearrange.

If you are to buy wall fountains, see to it that you are prepared to commit to its maintenance. This type of décor does not groom itself, and will require constant supervision in order to uphold its beautiful and stylish look.

Alabama Long Term Care Insurance - Shopping Effectively

If you truly intend to get the cheapest quotes, you must shop extensively. Extensive shopping can be carried out in all of these ways...

1. Ask those close to you their take on different insurers. The quality of service they received from past or present insurers will help you make very informed choices. Your work is easy if they rave about their insurer or agent. All you'd have to do is just shortlist them as possible options for you.

Even though it looks fine to opt for an agent that is highly recommended by a friend, it still pays to have a chat with more than one great agent. This will ensure you do better comparison for the best value and rates. The truth remains that you'd do better shopping if you talk with and compare up to three agents.

Take out time to get quotes from each agent you were referred to. Talk with them all and you'll easily spot who will give not just the lowest quotes, but the best price to value ratio. This is really effective but at the same time quite time-consuming.

2. You can locate agents by searching the Yellow Pages. If you're the kind of individual who feels more comfortable using the phone, you can look for agents in the Yellow Pages, call them and request quotes from them. The major problems with this option is that you'll require quite some time and might not be able to count on the nature of the agent as you would if a friend recommended them.

3. Alabama has a department that oversees insurance there and already has great resources for all insurance buyers in the state. You can learn so many things about coverage types, tips, insurers licensed to provide such policies in the state and other valuable information. The more you are sure of what to do in long term care insurance, the better the rates you will get.

4. Make use of consumer guides. They are a great place to get an idea of typical rates. They also give great advice that will help you make huge savings without compromising the quality of coverage you get. Treat the quotes shown in consumer guides as averages only. You could pay a lot more or less depending on your specific needs, your details and the insurer you buy from. To shop well you'd have to obtain quotes from at least three agents. If you want the best then you have no choice but to request for a lot of quotes.

5. It's also fine to contact any agent you know and request a quote. What you must avoid is getting a quote from only one insurance agent. Yes, although it will be more tasking, you can only guarantee better value by requesting for many quotes.

6. For individuals who have direct access to insurers, you can call them directly for quotes. Remember to obtain quotes from as many companies as makes sense. You increase the probability of getting a low quote and an outstanding service by comparing the quotes you get thoroughly.

As you take these other steps to lower your Alabama long term care rates, here's something you can do to start enjoying lower rates now. Visit good quotes sites and request for quotes. Visit at least three of such sites for the best results. It's free, quick and easy. Please make certain you give your correct details as you fill the forms on each site. Thereafter, simply pick the insurance company that gives you the best price/value from the quotes you've obtained.
